GerokTerms of Use

These terms apply to the Gerok app and service, provided by Aleksei Shlyk, Wallstraße 18, 10179 Berlin, Germany (“we”). The app itself is licensed to you under Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement; these terms add what is specific to Gerok. How we handle your data is described in the Privacy Policy.
1. Who can use Gerok
You must be at least 18 years old. You sign in with your Apple Account and are responsible for what happens in your account.
2. Your stories
What you record and write stays yours. You allow us to store and process it, including with the AI providers named in the Privacy Policy, only to provide Gerok to you: to transcribe it, retell it in German, create learning material, pictures and audio from it and check your answers. Your stories are private; nobody else sees them.
Please don’t record or write content that is illegal, that violates someone else’s rights, or that reveals sensitive details about other people without their permission.
3. Your private voice
You may create a private story voice only from your own voice, with your explicit consent. Never use someone else’s voice. You can remove your voice at any time in Profile.
4. AI-generated content
German retellings, exercises, pictures, voices, conversations, podcasts, scores and feedback in Gerok are generated by AI. They are made for learning and can contain mistakes. They are not professional, medical, legal or official advice, and scores and level estimates are not certificates of your German. Your conversation partner and the podcast hosts are AI, not people. 5. Fair use
Don’t misuse Gerok: don’t try to get around its limits or security, overload it, copy it, extract content from it automatically, or use it to generate content that is illegal or harmful. We may block requests that break these rules.
6. Free plan, Gerok Plus and Gerok Pro
- The free plan includes one new story every 30 days, the full learning path for every story, word cards and reviews.
- Gerok Plus adds a new story every day (one in any 24 hours, and 3 in the week of a free trial), podcasts, picture exercises, new angles and your private story voice.
- Gerok Pro includes everything in Gerok Plus and up to 10 new stories in any 24 hours.
- Story allowances count the new stories you start in a rolling period; a story that fails to be created doesn’t count. Everything you’ve already made stays yours on any plan.
- Gerok Plus and Gerok Pro are sold by Apple through the App Store: Plus as a monthly or yearly subscription and Pro as a monthly one, at the price the App Store shows you. They renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You manage, change and cancel them in your Apple Account settings, or in Gerok under Profile › Manage. Moving from Plus to Pro takes effect at once, and Apple refunds the unused part of your Plus period.
- A free trial of Gerok Plus is offered once to new subscribers. If you don’t cancel before it ends, the subscription starts and the App Store charges you.
- Your statutory rights as a consumer, including any right of withdrawal, apply to the purchase from Apple. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Deleting your Gerok account does not cancel a subscription; cancel it with Apple.
7. Contact points and reporting content
Our single point of contact for users and for authorities under the EU Digital Services Act is support@gerok.app, in English or German.
To report content in Gerok you believe is illegal, write to that address with where you saw it, why you think it is illegal, your name and email, and a statement that your report is accurate and complete. We confirm receipt, decide carefully and without delay, and tell you our decision. If we remove your content or restrict your account, we tell you why and how you can challenge the decision.
8. Ending
You can stop using Gerok and delete your account at any time in Profile › Delete Account. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, after telling you why unless the law or safety prevents it.
9. Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act. For slight negligence we are liable only for breaching an obligation essential to the contract, whose fulfilment makes the service possible and on which you may rely, and then only for damage typical and foreseeable for this kind of contract. Otherwise our liability for slight negligence is excluded.
10. Changes
We may update these terms, for example when Gerok gains new features or the law changes. We tell you in the app before significant changes take effect.
11. Law
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live.
